People Better Than You

“It’s better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you’ll drift in that direction.”
—Warren Buffett

One of my favorite blogs to read is The Simple Dollar. Today I downloaded his free eBook, verbosely titled Everything You Ever Really Needed to Know About Personal Finance On Just One Page. He makes many great points, but one I really like is: “Improve yourself in your spare time.

“If you have a job that requires some speci?c skills, ?nd ways to improve those in your spare time as well. Keep up to date on your speci?c area of knowledge. Learn what you would need to know to take the next step in your career.”

I have so much to learn. What’s holding me back? I just need to focus and do more.

My sister hadn’t seen Iron Man yet, so we watched it yesterday. Yinsen is one of my favorite characters. One inspiring part of the movie comes when Yinsen is about to die. His last words are:

“Don’t waste it. Don’t waste your life, Stark.”

Every minute counts. Even (or especially) when you’re unemployed. The present moment is your best opportunity.

Make it happen.

Ha! That first quote makes the huge assumption I want to behave like better behaving people!

I’m just fine with chaos and wild adventures brought on by inappropriate behavior, Thank You!

    Keeps things interesting.
