My roommate just had this problem with Microsoft Word 2003, and I found the fix using the Google search engine. Here’s what you do:
Tools -> Options -> Edit
Check “Typing Replaces Selection”
That’s all my roommate had to do. For the sake of completeness, the fix also says:
Tools -> Options -> General
Uncheck both options that have WordPerfect in them

Too me its not the fact that it was the voice deal it’s the fact that break downs and bsod sure happen a lot to m$ during their demos. Really…. How many have there been… not sure I can count that high, has it ever happened to apple? (i dont know, asking..)

Jason might be a great guy but he accepted to be in the difficult job of being the open source representative in a company that doesn’t really have a track record of acting in the best interest of free software and open source.
