A friend had this problem today. Here’s the information I’ve managed to collect.
Description:
Error category 4
Error code 1
Message:
Out of system resources.
Application failed to initialize.
Property (0vc0000017).
Unknown error.
Try again later.
Solution:
Firewall configuration.
Fix:
1. Check firewall configuration and settings (Fireball).
2. Make sure that it allows AIM to connect to the internet.
3. Make sure AIM is on the safelist.
4. Try reinstalling AIM.

Same here…XP Pro…reinstalled.
firewalls have nothing to do with it. I have the same problem.

I don’t even have the Firewall running, but started to get this error code - tried re-installing, resetting XP to a date when it was working, but nothing… Aaarrghhh
