Motive SmartBridge

The Motive SmartBridge background task is installed with Verizon Online’s software which is included with their residential DSL service. It has an autoupdate prompt which runs at startup. I disabled it on my computer simply because I don’t know exactly what it does. Since I don’t have a use for it and anything running uses up some memory, I’ll keep it that way. This page has a great help. I ininstalled support center completely. I have been hoping that ISPs would fo more to control virusses and spyware; My confidence has been misplaced.

I have the same problem mentioned by Doug on 3/9/05. After my computer sits awhile I must reboot in order to get back on line. It is not a problem with the modem, as the signal goes to other computer using powerblock. It seems to be within my computer, which is directly connected to the modem, using Windows XP. Verizon is no help with this, and I have not been able to find any leads. Appreciate any help with this. Harvey

I deleted Motive but now I have one that appears and says: “Internet explorer has encountered a problem and must shut down” This stuff is a nuisance. Thanks - glenmorgan.
