I had my first slice of EVK pumpkin pie today. It’s been rumored before that they have it, but they rarely have it in stock. I went to EVK right before closing time - 9:54 PM - and got one of the many slices that were sitting in the fridge. With a glass of milk, it was pretty good.

you pretty much can’t live without grep. this is a nice grep for windows (works fine under WinXP).
I don’t listen to much music, but when you’re on USC’s ResNet (residential network) and using iTunes to just browse around other people’s Shared Music, it’s hard to resist trying it out.
It’s simply awesome. If you haven’t tried ourTunes on a large network yet, try it someday. And imagine the possibilities…
but is it what I want to do?
Last week, I helped to fix Gersh’s sound. It wasn’t working; I checked the connections, and he had it plugged into the wrong jack - the line in rather than output. The plug was incorrectly color-coded; both connections were green, but they’re actually not matching. I spotted this right away. I also helped him install Office 2003. It wasn’t working due to activation problems and such.
WD-40, duct tape, and a towel.
When I was hiking Half Dome (Yosemite), I used a towel for shade, to keep dry, to dry off, to cool off (just dip the towel in water), to ward off bugs, to warm up, to clean things, to sit on, to block the wind, and more.
A selection of interesting stuff from around the web (mostly Slashdot), all in one day…
Haven’t had time to digest it yet…

This morning, I went to breakfast at EVK and talked with Bob for awhile. I had some cereal with soy milk, along with one of those famous waffles topped with strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and whipped cream.
We had a blackout Monday at about 12:40 pm PST. I was in my Math 126 (Calculus II) lecture with Professor Ko Honda. When the lights went out, our first thought was that the motion sensor hadn’t seen any movement - but it soon became clear when we noticed that the lights in the hallway were off.
Many things have happened over the past couple days, but I usually don’t have time to write about them. Today, I opened my Savings and Checking accounts with the USC Credit Union. The cards I carry has doubled from two - my USCard and driver’s license, to four - adding the Trojan Checkmate and Web AccessCard. The Web card is a laundry card. They replaced the old laundry machines with new ones that only accept laundry cards. Why they couldn’t make it use our USCards (discretionary) is unknown, but the laundry card uses a rectangular chip instead of a magnetic strip.
