Popup Blocker may be Preventing Gmail from Opening the Page

I’ve finally solved the problem of:

http://mail.google.com
“Grr! A popup blocker may be preventing Gmail from opening the page. If you have a popup blocker, try disabling it to open the window.”

The problem for me was Norton Internet Security / Symantec Client Firewall. Although you might not think it, this program includes an ad blocker and popup blocker, and doesn’t warn you when it blocks ads. (Same with network connections it blocks.)

Even when you right-click its icon and choose Disable, it might still block popups. Open the System Status window, click Ad Blocking, and then choose Turn Off. You’ll need to refresh the page for changes to take effect. You might be able to further configure Ad Blocking to your tastes by choosing Configure.

You are an absolute lifesaver, I was so frustrated that I couldn’t do anything w/gmail! On my Norton Internet Security 2005, it was under norton anti-spam, then turn off popup blocking.

Thank you for that!

big thanks for this, it has been driving me crazy!

Thanks! I’m about rready to give up on Norton Internet security 0 It’s been blocking these popups (stopping me using gmail the way I want) Blocking Wizard windows on our server - stopping me configuring our users. and it hogs resources. Time to check out the competetion methinks…

Thank you so much I’ve been trying to figure that crap out basically since they introduced the option to send mail as another email address. I even had figured to turn the ad blocking off in norton however you have to go into advanced and turn off pop up blocker separately and i never woulda thought to check that.
