I like LCDs, and I recommend them to everyone. I just watched a video at ZDNet (CNet) about how LCDs cut energy costs. Two thoughts struck me, and I felt compelled to log them here.
- People already own CRTs because they are an older technology. Also, the price difference between LCDs and CRTs was greater when LCDs were newer. For new purchases, LCDs undoubtedly make the most sense.
- I have an LCD that “died” in less than five years (the video suggested that they would last well over 5 years). There seems to be some problem with the backlight, although I’m not certain.
Anyone out there have a suggestion on where I could take a 15″ LCD to see if it can be repaired or exchanged?
