I was seriously thinking about creating a separate “fun” blog for this, but having multiple blogs just means one won’t get updated. So it goes here, along with everything else. Rely on the “Categories” if you want to see just a certain topic. The fun category, by the way, is “Entertainment”.

These are just the basics of learning Japanese if you want to travel there and survive. You won’t be able to read Kanji nor Katakana when you’re done. However, you will be able to speak some Japanese, and properly, too.
You might notice that certain anime characters have specific endings to their phrases. Japanese has many dialects, determined by region or province. For example:
Naruto’s Dialect …datte bayo
Used in context… Urusette bayo! (or usendattebayo!)
Translation… Shut up
Usually urusai means “shut up”, but, in Naruto’s tongue, he would attach the dialect from his culture and say: Urus-ette Bayo!
Rurouni Kenshin Dialect …de goza ryo
Used in context… Yame de goza ryo
Translation… Stop!
Now you know about certain dialects affecting the difficulty of Japanese language. Now let’s start learning!

The following phrases are useful when you’re in a fight…I don’t know why you’d be in a fight in Japan, but let’s get started.
Fighting phrases
Ore no kachi da - Victory is mine!
Ore no kachi da na - Victory is mine! (again with dialect)
Body ga amei ze - Your body is weak!
Shi wo kureteyaru, shi ne - I will kill you, die!
Haji toshirei - Ridiculous!
Genkai mode, tobasu ze! - I’m speeding up to my limit!
Konotedo Janeidaro! - Is that all you got?
Doko made mo, agaiteyaru - I will fight anywhere!
Ikuze! - Let’s Go!
Iza, jinjou ni shoubo! - Let’s have a fair match!
Mou oyasumi kai? - Is it bedtime already?
Ore no daban da ze - It’s my turn!
Basic phrases
Doko da!? - Where?
Nan dayo? - Why?
Nani? - What?
Nan desu ka? - What is it?
[Name here] dayo - It was [Name here] (blaming someone).
Introductions/Greetings
Ohayo! - Hello!
Ohayo gozaimasu - Good morning!
Konichiwa - Good afternoon!
Konbanwa - Good evening!
Watashi no namai wa [Name] desu - My name is [Name]
Dozo, yorishiku onegaishimasu - Pleased to meet you!
Yoshi - Ok!
Hai! - Yes!
Iie - No!
Urusai - Shut up
Yamero - Stop!
Arigatou - Thank You
Bai - Bye

i was told that Dattebayo, was a sort of re-enforcement, sort of like ‘i said’ so i asumed thats why they translated into into the english anime ‘believe it’
which is it?
or are they the same thing, lol, just that shut up sounds impolite, thought its pretty much the same as ‘listen to what i said, i mean it’

In spanish Naruto sais “¡Vaya que sí!” And that means something like “Of course yes!” (literally translated) so its like affirming something he sais. Hope it helped. ^.^
