Proposal: Electronic Book Reader

Here’s an idea I came up with a few weeks ago. I didn’t write “eBook” because it looks silly and has somewhat negative connotations. This is an Electronic Book Reader, and yes, it needs a catchier name. Here’s an overview of a few of the things I’ve thought about. A company really needs to make an effective eBook reader and get publishers signed on. Google could definitely do it. Or an electronics manufacturing company (Nintendo?) could partner with Google and do it.

IVTCF and HEAT

Today was super-packed. In addition to Mark Lucovsky talking at USC, I also ran around all day doing things like going to class, doing homework, going to Math 226 SI (Supplemental Instruction), and doing the bulletins for HEAT. I also did a lot of work on the TCF website. It has been a very rewarding experience for me because I’ve gotten to talk to people who directly use the website on a near-daily basis. Plus, it’s something I’m good at so I can really give back to the TCF community. It’s not the most popular site I’ve run, as Invision Plus is larger by far. But it is quite a nice site, and I like to work on it.

Google’s Mark Lucovsky Talks at USC

Mark came to give a Google Tech Talk at USC today. It was really good. It’s 1:41 AM, so I don’t have time to write about it extensively. But it was about the Google Ajax Search API, and I am looking forward to messing with it when I have time. Specifically, it would be cool to work it with Google Maps, and to use it to make a contact list (leads) builder (integrated with Spreadsheets).
