The Devil Wears Prada – Recommended

I just saw The Devil Wears Prada on recommendation from my RC (Resident Coordinator), Mike. Someone told me it was about a woman selling her soul or something, but that’s not what it’s about. It’s really completely different from what I expected. In fact, it was a lot better than I expected. I enjoyed it so much, I added it to my favorite movies list on Facebook.

It’s rated PG-13 “for some sensuality,” but the content isn’t too bad. The actors are beautiful, though. It has a lot of fashion stuff which I don’t know anything about, but knowledge of it isn’t necessary to enjoy the movie. And the point of the movie is to do what you love.

I see some of myself in the idea that one can really get ahead by working hard, but that life for people at the top isn’t really all that different from a normal person. You can also get there by doing great stuff on your own, and in the U.S.A., we definitely have the ability and freedom to do that. It all depends on what you can do, the results you can achieve.

I didn’t really think before that this could happen outside the computer industry, and definitely not in fashion, though I’d never thought of it before. But evidently, it can. It always depends on interacting with the right people, doing your best and really going after what you want, finding something you can do better than anyone else. Even if they don’t agree, you can change their mind by being the best.

Plus, the movie has a happy ending and everything works out perfectly, so you’ll definitely feel good after watching it. It’s optimistic thinking, sure, but there’s reality behind it, too. If you get a chance, I suggest you see it.

P.S. Looks like it’s based on a book. The book doesn’t sound as good as the movie, but I might take a look at it if I happen to see it.
