		<description>That's a good point. More webmasters are customizing their 404 pages. I seem to remember ~10 years ago that seeing 404 was a daily occurrence for web surfers, perhaps as the default for most web servers.</description>

If you get a 404 response then the web server and internet connections are perfectly fine, the problem is the document requested is missing, so the server returns a 404 page instead. It's also independent of the browser: whatever is returned by the server is displayed. The administrator can configure it to return whatever he wishes.</description>
