		<description>Hmmm.. why bother deleting spam? I can only see a negative which is accidently deleting a real message you might later need to search to find. Spam doesn't affect your quota does it?</description>

		<description>Indeed. I hate pingback spam. I've deleted the spam pingback.

One thing to note about Gmail: it automatically deletes spam after 30 days. So I fully expect to be seeing a 31,000-ish number by this time next month.</description>
