Ron Paul is a Republican congressman serving his 10th term in the House of Representatives. I’ve written about him before. I learned from someone’s comment on YouTube that he has a new feature: a weekly update directly from him regarding the activities in Congress. I just listened to it, and it’s quite good. Did you see that funny YouTube where Mike Huckabee’s young Iowa spokesman endorsed me, “by mistake”? We know what was in his mind! Indeed, I am amazed at the friendliness of the supporters of other candidates. Many Obama voters, for example, in Iowa and New Hampshire are reading our literature, and studying our ideas. It’s just one of the reasons I am so optimistic about what we are doing, and where we are heading. And so were the 500 or 600 people at our New Hampshire rally after the primary. I talked to everyone there, and they are rightly enthusiastic about our movement.
My answer was, “No, I didn’t see that YouTube.” So I searched for it. And it took longer than I expected, although I did eventually find it. To save you some time, here it is:

I like Mike Huckabee. There’s a site at IndependentPrimary.com where you can vote for a candidate. I voted Mike Huckabee. But depending on how things turn out, this could easily change to Ron Paul or John McCain. I’m currently investigating Dennis Kucinich, although he’s a Democrat, I’ll keep an eye on him. How To Vote In Primaries And Not Be An Idiot – supports Kucinich, which I don’t agree with – but I learned a lot about how primaries work.
So, Huckabee is a top choice, but Ron Paul is very intriguing as well. My mom mentioned that it’s unfortunate that we don’t have a great candidate on either side, that everyone is so split. I disagree. Votes are split because there are many great candidates. Obviously, nobody is perfect, but I seriously don’t know anyone who could do a better job than any of my current top 3 (Huckabee, Paul, McCain). So they’re all pretty good people, and I’m impressed. Just learning about them has taught me a lot, and you can really tell these are smart people.

On Wednesday I watched the CNN-YouTube Republican Debates online. I highlighted one interesting response on my Business blog: Why have farm subsidies? Then I saw this transcript of Rush Limbaugh’s radio show where he claims that the YouTube Debate was a disaster for CNN. At first, I thought it was interesting. I read the first part of what Rush said, it was pretty convincing. But I went back to YouTube, saw the debate for myself, saw some of the positive reviews of it and some of the other perspectives, and yes, I agree the questions weren’t the best, but all things considered, they actually did quite a good job of it. I’m impressed, anyway. I learned a lot about the candidates and have even more respect for all of them.
