Still trying to figure out how to disable Norton’s Phishing Protection toolbar. It doesn’t show up as a Firefox add-on. It’s like a virus. It’s spyware. It’s malware. I removed it by renaming the .dll and creating a blank text file with the same name. But when Firefox crashed, it was back on the next restart. It’s just incredibly hard to get rid of. How did they manage to get around Firefox’s add-on controls?

Absolutely! My God, I thought Norton was a good company. How do I get this crap off my computer? Morons and jerks!

On Vista Home Premium running Firebox 2.0.0.14, you can put the cursor on the command toolbar (Files Edit etc) and right click. Then uncheck “Show Norton Toolbar”.

Before I noticed this, I did an uninstall/reinstall of Firefox, which failed to remove the toolbar. Incidentally, you can go into your Norton program and turn off phishing protection, but this leaves the toolbar (reporting that phishing is off).

In IE, the Norton toolbar can be turned off in a similar way.
