What’s Up

I’m short on time, so I’m giving myself 2 minutes to write this entry.

Today I thought about what I’m doing… and I one thing struck me. I’m quiet. Much too quiet. And I’m not quiet on the inside. At least, I hope I’m not. I don’t think I am.

I can’t organize my thoughts. I can’t really organize, period. Just look at my computer’s desktop – more icons than I can count, and most of them are folders that I’ve used to toss all the other icons into – several times. On the other hand, I am more organized than other people. I fall somewhere in the middle.

And I’m boring. I don’t want to be like everyone else. And yet, I’m not. Other people seem to have such insight into human experiences. What about me? I don’t. Maybe I’m disconnected. Maybe writing short sentences is stifling my true thoughts. Or are my thoughts really this simple? It scares me.

Lots of people are really good at connecting with people and lots of people are not. Some people are born with the gift of gab and some are not…and some of those who are not learn to appreciate the fact that they do get to spend a bunch of time alone or deeply entrenched in things that interest them.

As far as being boring, relative to what? Tons of people sit around and watch reality TV for 6 hours a day. You are at least attempting to express yourself (even if to a page you expect few to read)…most people do not do that. You are participating in an active network that you do not have to…lots of people do not even do that.

When you pause and think deeply you may feel shallow (as I frequently do), but it is feelings of inadequacy that lead us to better things.

What you are feeling really is not all that abnormal, but then again if I in any way attempt to define normalcy (is that a word) then that might be an error too.

    Thanks aaron.

Great quote: “…it is feelings of inadequacy that lead us to better things.”

I need to be more optimistic :)

Well, there are a lot of Verizon DSL customers who think you are da bomb.

“boring relative to what?” Good insight. Many people who talk are boring! The best way to be interesting to others is to ask them questions. You will find out interesting things about people, and it will lead you to open up about yourself as you find things in common.

The “boring relative to what?” comment is so true. People always say “so & so is boring”, as if there is an exact criteria that people meet to make them fit that label. What they’d really said (had they any real social tact)is “so & so is interested in different things than I am”. Boring to one person is not boring to another. Most people just want someone to entertain them, but people should be able to entertain themselves. Kinda like the saying goes: “Only boring people get bored”. Everyone is interesting to someone. I certainly don’t find your blog (or you) boring.
