So Long and Thanks for All the Fish MP3

I searched all over the web and had a terribly difficult time of finding a complete MP3 version of “So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish,” the song at the beginning of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the movie based on the book by Douglas Adams (based on the radio series).

I found a Flash animation of the song, with some dolphins singing it and such. So I finally decided to use my new MuVo to encode it directly to MP3. It worked wonderfully.

So Long & Thanks for All the Fish Lyrics

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world’s about to be destroyed
There’s no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

(yeah)

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

(oh dear)

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

Give credit where due: the mp3 is encoded from this flash animation.

If i had just one last wish

If we could just change one thing
We would all have lungs to sing

    Come, one and all

  5. enjoyed the link for “so long…..” I heard the track from the soundrack album played on WXPN in Philadelphia. It included narration before the song (which I found very enjoyable). Could you post a version with the narration before the song? That would
    be great!

How do you open this? I can’t get it to play on anything. Any help please? I’ve had this song in my head AND dreams (seriously, it’s kind of freaky) for about a week. It’s KILLING ME!!!!!
    Thanks much!!

  14. Elliot Lee says:

13Wildflowers, it’s an mp3 music file inside a zip archive. You might have to use a zip extraction tool (like Winzip) to open it. To play the mp3 file, use any music player: for example, iTunes or Winamp.

Thanks! I was just looking for this! I thought that I wouldn’t ever find it. I even tried Dogpile (they usually have what I’m looking for). I had seen the flash movie you got it from, and I must admit, it’s good. I saw the movie, but due to not being very faithful to the book, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Oh well, I always have the books. Thanks again!

Would it be too much to ask for you to post it, or send it to me?
