Accepted to USC Early Entrance

Yep, it’s true, I’ve been accepted to the USC Resident Honors Program. It’s very exciting! The major I chose is “Computer Engineering and Computer Science.” I have until May 1 to make a final decision of whether to attend.

I’m very happy to get accepted. Looking at the others, my grades and scores are not stellar, and the program is quite selective. I don’t know how selective exactly, but I do know that they don’t accept everyone =). This seems to be a great program for me for a number of reasons. Yes, I’m not into high school “fun” (I didn’t even know what Sadies was, or even how to spell it, until just a few weeks ago). But I also want to learn more about computer science and engineering, which is very very small at Walnut High, and opportunities are very limited. It’s a little frightening though. I’ve never taken a serious computer class, and USC offers the opportunity to do so.

On the other hand, USC is expensive, and I don’t think I have much chance for financial aid or scholarships. However, I am reasonably sure that I could raise the money if needed.

Congratulations on being accepted into the University of Southern California :-). Hope it pays off and you make good use of this chance. This is a rare opportunity. If you can raise money to pay for your admission, then go for it.

Good job, I see that you made hard sacrifices. I applied to transfer to USC for fall 2005. USC will give me their decision on June 1st. I doubt that they will accept me, but I will take it if they do. You should go there; it has good ties to politics, religion, and academics.

I am a Software Engineer (Programmer/Analyst). Be careful, there are not as many jobs out there as there used to be in the computer business. Lots of layoffs. My advise, go into something medical…Radiography or something. If money is an issue, you can do Radiography in two years. Just a thought, don’t let it bring you down.
