Taco Bell’s New Value Menu

You get what you pay for. Today I went to Taco Bell for a late lunch and took a look at their new “Big Bell Value Menu.” I picked up a 99 cent 1/2 lb. Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito and an 89 cent Caramel Apple Empanada.

They’re amazing prices, even for what you get. For about $2, I had a lunch that filled me as much as something that would cost $5 or more at another restaurant. Unfortunately, the quality is proportionally worse. The burrito was filled with tons of whatever fake cheesy substance they use, very cheesy and creamy but obviously different from real cheese. Plus there was just way too much of it. The Caramel Apple Empanada had maybe 2 tiny bits of apple in it, along with a huge amount of some fake creamy caramel gel. It tasted good, but it felt like I was just eating caramel sauce. Still, for $2, it can’t be beat.
