AIM Error Category 4 Code 1

A friend had this problem today. Here’s the information I’ve managed to collect.

Description:
Error category 4
Error code 1

Message:
Out of system resources.
Application failed to initialize.
Property (0vc0000017).
Unknown error.
Try again later.

Solution:
Firewall configuration.

Fix:
1. Check firewall configuration and settings (Fireball).
2. Make sure that it allows AIM to connect to the internet.
3. Make sure AIM is on the safelist.
4. Try reinstalling AIM.

    I don’t even have the Firewall running, but started to get this error code – tried re-installing, resetting XP to a date when it was working, but nothing… Aaarrghhh

    Seems to be a DNS problem on my machine. ipconfig /flushdns fixed it.

    i have a problem, aim lets me sign on and when i click on a screen name to im someone this comes up:
    Error Signature

    does anyone know what that means?

    I’ve had teh same exact problem just recently started, its incredibly annoying, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I’ve already run adaware, spybot s&d, and check a hijack this log for other weird activities and i’ve been unable to fix it.

    Yeah, the same thing happens to me, it’s not the firewall thing for me. It launches fine, but when i try to message someone or someone messages me i get the SAME

    YEah same stupid problem here too. I heard that this problem has been on people who has sprint total access for DSL.

    Hey guys,
    I had the same problem you did. I came across this page today as i was trying to fix my problem. I figured it out and thought that id come back to help you out. =D Ur problem is diectly related to the “Only the Best” hikack. You probably got pop-ups and forced home pages. Go through the step by step directions and ur proplem should be fixed.
