Gmail

I’ve gotten a Gmail account. It’s far better than any other free email service out there. I’m surprised by the speed – it doesn’t always actually access the server when you go to a different page – very clever. If possible, it seems to cache all the data you’ll need at your fingertips, such as email addresses, previous and next message pages, etc. So when something is clicked, the response is immediate.

Why hadn’t anyone thought of this before?

I’m accessing Gmail from Mozilla Firefox. I heard that it’s better in Internet Explorer due to an ActiveX toolbar. I’ll have to try that out later. In fact, I’ll try it as soon as I’m done writing this.

My address is {removed 2013}. Feel free to email me there anytime – there’s plenty of space ;) and I’d like to test it out. That’s the purpose of a beta-test, anyway.

    Hi Elliot,

I have an email question. I just signed up for USC’s Gmail app account and I was wondering if there is a direct url I can type that directly links me to it. Currently, I’m having to login to MyUSC portal in order to access my email.

Also, do you know where email convos go when you “archive” an email? Thanks.

    I’d appreciate your help.

Hi Bo! How did you find this post?

Yes, the direct URL is: http://mail.google.com/a/usc.edu/

The easier one to remember is: google.usc.edu (this one gives you links to all the available Google Apps).

When you “Archive” an email, it goes into “All Mail.” Click the “All Mail” link on the left to see them, or just do a search using a few words from the email.

      Hope this helps!
