PSAT/NMSQT College Reporting (CPRS)

I was placed among the top 50,000 students of the 1.3 million who took the PSAT last October (I think). The National Merit Scholarship Corporation is offering a service they’re calling the “College Plans Reporting Service (CPRS).” It allows us to send information about ourselves to two colleges.

Do you know anything about it? Some Google searches turned up little from previous years – it looks like it might be new. I went ahead and chose USC and Caltech, just for fun and to see what happens.

Add a comment if you have any additional info.

Hey Elliot, I got this letter too. I’m not going to do it, since we’re already going to college. I’ve gotten enough college spam already.

I too received this… I figure that it is worth doing if only because this is a free service. If we want to send scores after this, it will cost us. Why not go for it and make ourselves look a little better to colleges?

hey, ya i was googling for more information on the PSAT cprs thing, but didn’t find much except for your website. i’m not so ambitious –i only put uc irvine and uc santa babara but those should suffice for now. so i was just wondering if putting down those colleges really helped your admission? like, did you actually get into USC and cal tech? i would really like to know! none of my really close friends received the letter, and i don’t want to just go around spewing off to people about it..so lucky you, i’m confiding in you about this. please email me at dcheng1029… gracias!

P.S. oh and do you have any college suggestions? remember.. i’m only of the uc-caliber, so keep that in mind. i’m thinking polytechnic, uci, ucsb.. basically party schools? i think so. haha

I don’t know at all. It is probably not a bad idea to try if you have narrowed your search some though.
