New Windows XP Install

So I’ve installed Windows XP Home Edition on my computer. It’s not really a reinstall because I didn’t delete my old copy. I resized the original NTFS partition with PartitionMagic 8.0 and created a new 45 GB NTFS partition for my new Windows install. It’s nice and fast — and it got most of the drivers from Windows Update, after I went to Dell’s website on another computer to pick up the Intel networking drivers.

Some notes, since I haven’t installed Windows for a long time. When running Windows Update for the first time, there’s a new Windows installer and some other stuff. On the second run, it came up with this long list of security updates:

Looks like it’s about time for SP3!

The default homepage for Internet Explorer is http://www.msn.com/ . I’m sure it gets millions of visits only because it’s the default page that comes with every install of Windows on virtually every computer ever made.
