Attention to detail

Something I’ve noticed as I get older is that I’m paying less and less attention to small things. Decorations, details, and making things just right – I do far less of than I used to. It’s not a perfect description. But the best way I can think of to describe it is an “attention to detail.”

When I was younger, I would make things my own. In everything I did, everywhere I went. My world was much smaller. Things were more limited. Everything would get proper care and attention. I would spend time arranging things, or making things work just right, for maximum efficiency, for maximum comfort.

Not so anymore. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I have more things to keep track of. As I work through schoolwork, talk with other students, join other organizations, and just get work done — there seems to be more now. And as part of this, I don’t pay attention to small things anymore. Things don’t have as great an impact as they used to. I wonder if this is a phenomenon that many people notice. I don’t remember reading it elsewhere. But if it applies to you, well – you read it here.
