Google Wireless Mouse

Since I’m an AdSense publisher, Google sent me an awesome little Christmas gift. This is an assumption, however, because they didn’t include a card or note. But it’s addressed to my name, so it’s surely for me. The box says: “From your friends at Google”.

Everything came neatly packed in a stylish red zippered book-like container with the Google logo carved in the front. Inside were lots of tech goodies: a geek’s dream-come-true.

I hope Google won’t mind me blogging about this. It’s just so awesome! (If Google does mind, and wants me to remove this, just let me know, and I would of course be happy to comply.)

Inside the neat container I found a USB hub, USB flash drive (128 MB), wireless optical mouse (with retractable USB cord for charging, and 2 AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries), USB LED light, earphone/microphone with retractable cord (now I can finally TALK on Google Talk!), and a pouch/bag. Presumably the bag is for carrying some of this stuff, such as the mouse. It also came with a few sheets of paper with documentation for the flash drive and the wireless mouse.

Of course, everything has the colorful Google logo on it, including the mouse and the USB light. Even the headset: it’s on the retractable cord section. I love Google stuff!

The wireless mouse is my favorite part. It was on my wishlist! It’s exactly, and I mean exactly, what I wanted. Just a basic optical mouse with two buttons, a scroll wheel (which can also act as a button), and a wireless receiver that is stored in the mouse (the hole you insert it in also has a flap cover so it’s kept covered when the mouse is in use). I’m using the mouse right now: the batteries came charged (not sure if they’re completely charged or just partly charged, but they’re charged enough to use! And they came in plastic shrink-wrap, so it’s clear that they’re new :) ). The mouse is really cool. Audrey said she wants my old mouse (the Radioshack one I mentioned here, which has been my primary mouse for the past several months). We’ll see.

Merry Christmas (early)!

Where can you get these? I’ve searched all over the internet and I can’t find anything close to it!

Hey, I know we don’t know eachother; but I also received my google gift today in the mail! I stumbled on your website attempting to search up our sweet little new mice.
Anyways, I just wanted to drop in and say hi.
It’s nice to see other Google members getting treated nicely.

Ok, now I’m feeling like the only dolt. I got the package too, but cannot for the life of me get the mouse to work… I plugged it in via the actual cord…nothing. Tried using the receiver…nothing. Tried translating the idiotic instructions that came with it…nothing.

So spill…what’s the trick? Gotta be smarter than the mouse?

Yeah, its definitely tricky. If you look on the top of the USB plug-in portion, you’ll see a little black button that you can press with a pen or small object.

On the bottom of the mouse, there’s another button, exactly the same.

The trick is to put the USB portion into your system first – let Windows XP find it. Then take it out, plug it back in again, and now
    a) press in the tiny button on top of the USB stick while its plugged in and then
    b) press the button in the bottom of the mouse right after.

If it works right, the little black USB stick has a tiny red light that should start blinking… and the mouse should now be active.

Great little gift. A bit small I think for everyday use, but the wow factor is really up there.

If you’re looking for one of these I could sell you mine. Contact me.

A spammer tried to leave a comment linking to an eBay auction selling one. It was at $UK 30 with zero bids. You can easily search eBay yourself if you want to go that route.
