This function is the default for a middle click in Mozilla Firefox, but with the software included with the Logitech MX1000 rechargeable wireless laser mouse, Logitech’s SetPoint Settings, the middle click is reassigned to do zoom. This is not effective for the kind of work I do. So I set about finding a way to change it. Turns out that you need to choose “Other” as the function, click the “Set Function” button, and then choose “Generic Button”. That did the trick. Awesome — thanks, Logitech! Good software.

12/6/2008Washington should take stock in the American tax payer, not failing companies. http://www.newsoxy.com/economy/article11434.html # The truth is that the big company bailouts are what have ruined our economy. OMG …said the full grown man, because he was so happy to have read this.
I had spent hours in the Mozilla forums searching for a fix. Your solution makes my surfing pleasant again!
Thanks — this helped. I have a Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse — my middle click stopped opening links in a new tab and was working as a Back button (quite an annoying difference!).
Reading your post, I assigned “Generic Button” and clicked Apply — didn’t help, but then I assigned “Other” Middle Click again (as it was) — and hit Apply — and it returned to functioning normally!
Thanks — I was thinking it was caused by a Firefox Add On or a setting in Firefox about:config — but it was the Logitech setting that I freshly re-applied that got it working again … without your post, I wouldn’t have thought to do that!
Thank you so much!!!
