Usage approaching quota

My account on USC’s Aludra server is approaching its quota. I appreciate that they’re proactive about sending these warnings. I’d hate to one day run out of space and be stuck deleting files when I’m too busy to do so.

Dear USC Computer User,

This message was sent to inform you that your disk usage on /home/scf-04
has reached at least 90% of your disk storage quota of 50000 KBytes.

Please take steps to reduce the amount of space taken up in your home
directory.  Once your usage reaches the quota limit, you may experience
problems saving files and possible difficulties logging into a Sun
workstation.  For documentation on managing your files from your account
please visit the following site:

For assistance, please contact the ISD Customer Support Center at 213-740-5555.

It’s pretty ridiculous they still only give us 50MB. Most students never use it at all, while CS and other engineering students often find themselves having to delete stuff to stay under quota, especially as you get into some of the upper division courses with large projects.

  2. yeh 50meg is kinda stuffy!
