This function is the default for a middle click in Mozilla Firefox, but with the software included with the Logitech MX1000 rechargeable wireless laser mouse, Logitech’s SetPoint Settings, the middle click is reassigned to do zoom. This is not effective for the kind of work I do. So I set about finding a way to change it. Turns out that you need to choose “Other” as the function, click the “Set Function” button, and then choose “Generic Button”. That did the trick. Awesome — thanks, Logitech! Good software.

Thanks for the tip man… really helpful…
Hey turns out exactly the same is true for a lot of the newer Dell mice too. For a short while I thought Firefox 2.0.x had disabled this feature!
Why would a hardware manufacturer try to do that? So cheeky and irritating.
Thanks
More thanks here too! Ditto to everything gonzo said!
Hallelujah!!!!!!!! Installed the software and was getting irate at the fact that it hijacked normal middle-click functions. Very useful tip which didn’t seem to be available on Logitech’s site.
Can finally surf as normal! Thank you
